Champu Kavyam

Champu Kavyam is literature in Prose-Poem format. Champu kavya consists of a mixture of गद्य-पद्य, prose (Gadya-Kavya) and poetry passages (Padya-Kavya) and is said to have its origin from Atharva Veda period example Ithareya Brahmans Harishchandropakyana. After Vedic period, Champu finds its place in Mahabharatham, Vishnu Purana and Bhagawat Purana. Panchatantra, Hitopadesh, Champu-Bharata, Champu Ramayana,Sri Ramanuja Charitra Champu Kavyam,Nala Champu amongst many are written in Champu style.
