Sanskrit Academy is a Research Institution dedicated to Sanskrit research, publications and propagation of Sanskrit language. Sanskrit Academy has come into existence in 1954. Since then, it is functioning as a research center of the famous Osmania University (OU), Hyderabad. This institution has a separate building, built in the year 1973, in an area covering 1.18 acres of land. In 2002, the Academy was elevated to the status of Adarsha Shodha Sansthan with the recognition and financial support of the Central Sanskrit University, New-Delhi.
OBJECTIVES
- To collect , preserve, and investigate old and rare Sanskrit Manuscripts.
- To edit and publish Sanskrit Manuscripts as well as research works.
- To promote and propagate Sanskrit learning in general , and research in particular.
VISION OF THE INSTITUTION
- Transformation of Sanskrit Academy as an international research based knowledge hub to unearth hidden knowledge in manuscripts and rare Sanskrit works.

RESEARCH
- Research faculty of the Academy are recognized as supervisors by Osmania University to guide Ph.D. students
- 14 research students are awarded Ph.D. degree
- 10 research students are pursuing Ph.D. degree

- Brought out 154 research-oriented publications
- Published 29 volumes of Journal of Sanskrit Academy
